1. Choosing the right bag clasp: between style and practicality
Let us guide you in choosing the unique accessory that will make all the difference!
The importance of choosing the right clasp
It's important to choose a clasp that's suited to the purpose of your bag or clutch. A bag clasp serves two essential purposes: it keeps your belongings secure while also contributing to the overall aesthetic of your creation. A poor choice can compromise not only the bag's practicality but also its design.
2. A very practical tool
Thanks to this ingenious tool, no more clumsy or long cutter strokes! It ensures clean and precise cuts in your leather, imitation leather, fabric, etc. for installing your claw clasps.

3. The different types of clasps and their installation method
The magnetic button / magnetic TOP clasp
Easy to install and use, the magnetic TOP clasp is very popular for handbags and clutches. It offers an elegant and discreet closure because the clasp head is generally hidden in the lining (simple magnetic TOP). There are several variants of magnetic clasps: POLO, rivetable, with different heads (round, triangular, rectangular) ... Its only drawback: it can lack security if the bag is often handled or loaded.

For this second clasp, the head is attached using two screws. Use a round awl to pre-pierce the leather before screwing (the screw will anchor itself in the material, we do not recommend piercing the leather before screwing).

This type of clasp is worth knowing, it can bring security and authenticity to your bag.

4. How to choose the ideal clasp for your sewing project?
Depending on the use of the bag
- For an everyday bag: choose a zipper or magnetic button for a good balance between security and practicality.
- For a clutch or evening bag: the twist or magnetic clasp adds a refined touch.
-
For a travel bag or backpack: the zipper remains the safest choice.
⚠️ Also pay attention to the choice of material for your clasp: brass, zamac, steel, copper, aluminum... it is important if you want it to stand the test of time and use! Most of our clasps are made of ZAMAC (non-ferrous alloy).
Depending on the design/style
The clasp contributes greatly to the bag's aesthetic. A discreet magnetic button will suit a minimalist design, while a twist clasp or metal buckle will add a more sophisticated touch.

In conclusion
Choosing a bag clasp shouldn't be taken lightly. Take the time to choose it carefully! Depending on the intended use and desired style, you can opt for a variety of closures that will enhance your creation. Give your future sewing projects character!
The perfect finishing touch for your leather goods creations.
