Tokonole: shiny and smooth leather slices
Tokonole Finishing Eraser is the go-to for leatherworkers and leather craftsmen for achieving professional finishes. This Japanese product is specially designed to smooth and burnish leather edges and remove lint from the crust side of the leather.
Made from a blend of natural waxes, Tokonole is available in several colors: neutral, black or brown.
How to use Tokonole on the edge of the leather?
1. Prepare the leather edges with a sandpaper and then sand them with an abrasive sponge or sandpaper. Sanding should always be done in the same direction and at a 45° angle to the edge.
2. Apply a small amount of Tokonole using your tool of choice or on your fingertips.
3. Wait until the Tokonole is "semi-dry", then rub briskly with a smoothing pad or soft cloth.
If the Tokonole drips onto the grain of the leather, wipe it off immediately so that it does not leave any marks.
Apply several layers of Tokonole until you achieve the desired smoothness.
It is possible to apply a colored edge finish before applying the Tokonole.
How to use Tokonole on the crust side of the leather?
1. Using a spatula or your fingertips: apply a thin layer of Tokonole to the leather crust.
2. When the Tokonole is "semi-dry", rub it with a tempered glass smoother or a wooden smoother.
Tokonole can only be applied to the edges of vegetable-tanned leathers. However, on the crust side, it can be applied to vegetable-tanned or mineral-tanned leathers. We do not recommend using it on suede or nubuck leathers (with a brushed surface).
