Au Chinois's glazed cabled linen thread is a twist that is assembled a second time at several ends and then twisted "wet." This humidification ensures that the linen fibers are not damaged. Cabling increases strength and produces a very round thread, generally used for luxury leather goods. This linen thread is glazed, which means that it passes through a starch bath to which beeswax is added. It then undergoes horsehair brushing and stretching. These operations produce a smooth and strong thread that has rigidity and hold. High-quality thread, ideal for hand sewing leather. Its very regular diameter allows it to be machine-sewn.
