DIY - Heart bookmark

THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT

To complete this tutorial, you will need:

• 1 piece of SATINLYS leather - RED - 15 x 20 cm - 1.2 mm thick
• 1 box of 8m of waxed linen thread MeiSi super fine M60 - 0.65 mm - RED
• 1 jar of slice finish
• 2 round magnets 9.5 mm in diameter
• 1 tube of 3g of extra strong cyanoacrylate glue - GEL- FACOM
• 2 round tip saddler needles - Size 1/0 - Ø1.1 mm (Ref: CA118_011)
• 1 round punch Ø1.5 mm

• 1 abrasive sponge
• 1 cutter
• 1 mallet
• 1 masking tape

Dimensions of the heart : 5 cm x 5 cm

1. CUT THE PATTERN

Start by downloading, printing and cutting out the pattern, leaving a 5 mm margin around the lines.
Then lay and hold the pieces on the piece of leather using masking tape.
Punch the stitching holes with the 1.5mm punch.

Then, cut out the pattern with a cutter along the lines.

2. Mark the folds of the heart

Mark the fold on the leather of the "bookmark" version.

3. Paste the magnets

With glue glue or neoprene glue, stick the magnets (diameter 9 mm) in the center of the two hearts.

For the "Magnet" version, stick the magnets (diameter 9 mm) at the top of the heart to be able to slip small words or photos inside your heart more easily. (See picture 3).

4. Sew the hearts

To start sewing, cut a thread equivalent to 5 times the length to be sewn. Then, thread a needle through each end of the yarn. Sew by passing each needle through each hole. At the end of the seam, make 3 bar tacks and hammer the seams with a jointer hammer/mallet.

5. Work the slices

With an abrasive sponge, sand the edges, then apply 2 to 3 coats of stain (sand between each coat) .

Your little hearts are ready!
