DIY - Heart bookmark

THE NECESSARY MATERIALS

To complete this tutorial, you will need:

• 1 piece of SATINLYS leather - RED - 15 x 20 cm - 1.2 mm thick
• 1 box of 8m of MeiSi super fine waxed linen thread M50 - 0.55 mm - RED
• 1 jar of slice finisher
• 2 round magnets 9.5 mm in diameter
• 1 tube of 3g of extra strong cyanoacrylate glue - GEL - FACOM
• 2 round tip saddle needles - Size 002 - Ø1 mm (Ref: CA118)
• 1 round punch cutter Ø1 mm

• 1 abrasive sponge
• 1 cutter
• 1 mallet
• 1 masking tape

Heart dimensions : 5 cm x 5 cm

1. CUT OUT THE PATTERN

Start by downloading, printing and cutting out the pattern, leaving a 5 mm margin around the lines.
Then place and hold the pieces on the piece of leather using masking tape.
Punch the stitching holes with the 1 mm diameter punch.

Then, cut out the pattern with a cutter following the lines.

2. Mark the fold of the heart

Mark the fold on the leather of the "bookmark" version.

3. Glue the magnets

Using glue or neoprene glue, stick the magnets (diameter 9 mm) in the center of the two hearts.

For the "Magnet" version, stick the magnets (diameter 9 mm) at the top of the heart to make it easier to slip little notes or photos inside your heart. (See photo 3).

4. Sew the hearts

To begin sewing, cut a thread equal to 5 times the length to be sewn. Then, thread a needle through each end of the thread. Sew by passing each needle through each hole. At the end of the seam, make 2/3 backstitching stitches and hammer the seams with a joining hammer/mallet.

5. Work the slices

Using an abrasive sponge, sand the edges, then apply 2 to 3 coats of stain (sand between each coat) .

6. OPTION: Customize the heart bookmark

Personalize the heart bookmark with a date, a word, a first name using our brass characters.
