Description

FINISHING GUM FOR VEGETABLE TANNED LEATHER

Gum arabic is a natural product harvested either using an incision on a trunk or at the foot of trees of the genus Acacia.
Natural gum arabic waterproofs and bonds the fibers of the leather. It allows you to smooth the slices of vegetable tanned leather and give them a smooth and shiny finish.

Usage tips:
- Shake the bottle well before use.
- Apply the product in a thin layer on the edge which has previously been rounded with a square base.
- Rub the edge vigorously with a cloth or a burnisher/smoothie to heat it up.
- Repeat the operation until the desired smoothness is obtained.
- Cleaning tools with soap and water.

Tip: tint gum arabic with water-based dye (see video).

What is the difference between gum tragacanth and gum arabic?
Gum arabic and tragacanth are obtained by the same process but do not come from the same sap. Unlike tragacanth, gum arabic is soluble in water : which explains why the gum is much more liquid. These two gums are applied in the same way, gum arabic gives a slightly darker result.
