1. Choosing the right bag clasp: between style and practicality
Let us guide you in choosing the unique accessory that will make all the difference!
The importance of choosing the right clasp
It is important to choose a clasp that is suitable for the use of the bag or pouch. A bag clasp plays two essential roles: it ensures the security of your belongings while contributing to the overall aesthetic of your creation. A poor choice can not only compromise the practicality of the bag but also its design.
2. A very practical tool
Thanks to this ingenious tool, no more clumsy or overly long cutter strokes! It ensures clean and precise cuts in your leather, faux leather, fabric... for installing your claw clasps.

3. Different types of clasps and their installation method
The magnetic snap / TOP magnetic clasp
Easy to install and use, the TOP magnetic clasp is very popular for handbags and pouches. It offers an elegant and discreet closure because the head of the clasp is usually hidden in the lining (simple TOP magnetic). There are several variations of magnetic clasps: POLO, rivet-on, with different heads (round, triangular, rectangular)... Its only drawback: it can lack security if the bag is often handled or heavily loaded.

For this second clasp, the head is attached with two screws. Use a round awl to pre-punch the leather before screwing (the screw will anchor into the material; we do not recommend punching the leather before screwing).

4. How to choose the ideal clasp for your sewing project?
Depending on the use of the bag
- For an everyday bag: opt for a zipper or magnetic button for a good balance between security and practicality.
- For a clutch or evening bag: a twist lock or magnetic clasp adds a refined touch.
-
For a travel bag or backpack: the zipper remains the safest choice.
⚠️ Also pay attention to the choice of material for your clasp: brass, zamak, steel, copper, aluminum... it's important if you want it to withstand time and use! Most of our clasps are made of ZAMAK (a non-ferrous alloy).
According to design / style
The clasp greatly contributes to the aesthetic of the bag. A discreet magnetic button will suit a minimalist design, while a twist lock or metal buckle will give a more sophisticated look.

In conclusion
The choice of a bag clasp should not be taken lightly. Take the time to choose it well! Depending on the intended use and desired style, you can opt for various closures that will enhance your creation. Give character to your future sewing projects!
The perfect finishing touch for your leather goods creations.
