Alligator leather information: This alligator leather comes from farms in the United States. The Mississippiensis alligator (Mississippi) is one of the 4 crocodilian leathers authorized for sale, along with the Niloticus crocodile (Nile), the Porosus crocodile (saltwater), and the caiman. Alligator leather is recognizable by its rounded scales on the flanks, which become more structured towards the center of the back.
Crocodile leather has squarer scales, while caiman leather has triangular scales. These leathers from farms are of better quality as they have fewer scars.
