HOW TO LINE A BAG STRAP WITH PIG SUEDE LEATHER?
1. CUT THE STRAP INTO 2 PARTS
Cut 2 strips, one 100 cm long and the other 40 cm long.
In this tutorial, the final strap measures between 115 and 125 cm (standard length of a leather bag strap).
2. CUT THE LININGS FROM THE STRIPS
Using a silver pencil, roughly trace the straps onto the lining leather
If the length of the lining leather is shorter than the straps, a connection will need to be made (see next step).
Then, cut the strips with scissors.
3. MAKE A CONNECTION (OPTIONAL)
If you were unable to cut the length in one piece: make a connection between 2 pieces of lining leather.
Trim the ends of the strips with a paring knife to remove some thickness.
PARING KNIFE GUIDE >
Apply leather glue to both trimmed sides. Wait a few moments then glue the two strips together.
Tap lightly with a jointing hammer to reinforce the bond.
Result: the connection is solid and almost invisible!
4. APPLY GLUE TO THE LINING AND STRAP
Apply contact adhesive to the crust (back) side of the strap and lining. Wait a few moments for the adhesive to dry.
5. GLUE THE STRAP TO THE LEATHER LINING
Place the vegetable tanned leather strap on the lining.
For better adhesion: press the leather with a roller.
6. CUT OFF THE EXCESS LINING LEATHER
Using a rotary cutter, cut off the excess lining leather.
Trim the ends of the strap for a straighter cut.
7. MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT HOLES ON THE 100 CM STRAP
On one end of the 100 cm strip: Mark the position of the holes with a 4 mm punch. Here, there are 5 holes spaced 2.5 cm apart.
Then, drill the holes using the 4mm punch and a mallet.
8. PLACE THE CONWAY BUCKLE ON THE SMALL STRAP (40 CM)
Fold one end of the 40 cm strip over 3.5 cm.
Make a mark on the 40 cm strap to attach the Conway buckle (for the stem). Then, make the hole and place the buckle.

To lock the conway buckle, make a hole on 2 thicknesses for the chicago screw or rivet.
The Conway loop is placed.
Finally, all that remains is to pass the large strap through the buckle, adjust the strap to the chosen size and add carabiners to the ends of it.
WORKING THE SLICES
Optionally, work the slices of the strip with a slice dye or tokonole.
DON'T WORRY, THE BONDING IS VERY STRONG!

YOUR LEATHER LINED STRAP IS FINISHED!
