FOCUS ON SIMPLIFIED LEATHER STITCHING
This "pre-punched hole" hand stitching technique for leather makes this tutorial accessible to everyone. You can, of course, choose to do a "standard" saddle stitch.

1. CUT THE LEATHER PIECES
- Download the pattern and print it to actual size.
- Cut out the pattern, leaving about 1 cm of margin around the edges of the different pieces.
- Tape the pieces onto the leather (using masking tape to avoid damaging the leather).
- Punch the holes with a 1.5 mm diameter punch and cut out the different pieces with a utility knife or rotary cutter.

2. FINISH THE EDGES
Finish the edges of the cat's eyes, nose, ears, and the inner rectangle provided for the zipper. Start by sanding the edges of the leather pieces, then apply edge paint. Repeat the process 2 to 3 times.

3. GLUE THE LEATHER PIECES
Glue the small face pieces and the zipper in the locations indicated on the pattern.
4. SEW THE COIN PURSE
Sew the cat's face.
- Cut the thread: generally 4 or 5 times the length of the seam line.
- Thread a needle onto each end of the thread.
- Sew by passing each needle through each hole one by one.
- Then pull the stitch tight.

Next, sew the zipper onto the leather strip.
To form a round shape, sew the two ends of the strip together. Then, sew the two leather circles edge to edge, wrong sides together with the strip. Use sewing clips to position the leather pieces.

5. FINISH THE EDGES
Finally, sand the edges of the coin purse then apply edge paint. Apply 2 or 3 coats if needed.

YOUR COIN PURSE IS FINISHED!
You are now ready to sew the cat backpack!
