Braided thread is a twisted yarn that is assembled a second time with several strands and then re-twisted "wet". This humidification ensures that the linen fibers are not altered. Braiding increases resistance and gives a very round thread, generally used for luxury leather goods.
This linen thread is glazed, meaning it has been passed through a starch bath containing beeswax. It then underwent horsehair brushing and stretching. These operations result in a smooth and resistant thread that has rigidity, good glide for easier sewing, and hold.
