Cabled thread is a twisted yarn that is assembled a second time with several ends and then twisted again "wet". This moistening ensures that the linen fibers are not damaged. Cabling increases resistance and produces a very round thread, generally used for luxury leather goods.
This linen thread is glaced, which means it has been passed through a starch bath to which beeswax has been added. It then underwent horsehair brushing and stretching. These operations result in a smooth and resistant thread that has stiffness, good glide to facilitate sewing, and good hold.
