MATERIALS NEEDED
To complete this tutorial, you will need:
- 1 piece of medium-soft to medium-firm leather - 15 x 20 cm - 1.2 mm thick
- 1 card of 8m MeiSi super fine M50 waxed linen thread - 0.55 mm - RED
- 1 pot of edge finish
- 2 round magnets - 9.5 mm diameter
- 1 tube of 3g FACOM GEL super glue (cyanoacrylate)
- 2 saddler's needles with round tip - Size 002 - Ø1 mm (Ref: CA118)
- 1 round punch - Ø1 mm
- 1 abrasive sponge
- 1 utility knife
- 1 mallet
- 1 masking tape
Heart dimensions: 5 cm x 5 cm
1. CUT OUT THE PATTERN
Start by downloading, printing, and cutting out the pattern, leaving a 5 mm margin around the lines.
Then, place and secure the pieces on the leather with masking tape.
Punch the sewing holes with the 1 mm diameter punch.
Next, cut out the pattern with a utility knife, following the lines.
2. Score the heart fold
Score the fold on the leather for the "bookmark" version.
3. Glue the magnets
Using super glue or neoprene glue, attach the magnets (9 mm diameter) to the center of both hearts.
For the "Magnet" version, glue the magnets (9 mm diameter) to the top of the heart to more easily slip small notes or photos inside your heart. (See photo 3).

4. Sew the hearts
To begin sewing, cut a thread 5 times the length to be sewn. Then, thread a needle onto each end of the thread. Sew by passing each needle through each hole. At the end of the seam, make 2/3 backstitches and hammer the seams with a joiner's hammer / mallet.
