EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

LEATHER LEMON CHARM

leather lemon charm

FULL VIDEO:

1. Trace the pattern

Download and print the Deco Cuir pattern (at the top of the page). Trace the lemon pattern on the grain side (flesh side) of yellow leather (piece size 15x10 cm). Then reproduce the mirrored pattern on the reverse side (suede side) using dots (round awl). Repeat the operation a second time.

Tracing with an awl

2. Cut out the 2 lemons

Roughly cut the leather with scissors.

3. Apply contact glue

Apply contact glue to the suede side of both leather pieces, then let the glue soak in.

Glue the leather

4. Cut out the stem

Apply contact glue to a piece of green leather (piece size 5x12 cm) then fold it in half (lengthwise) and glue it.

Cutting with a cutter

Split the 2 ends of the stem (see video) then apply glue to these 2 ends.

5. Place the wadding

Next, cut a piece of 200g/m2 wadding, form it into a ball, and insert it inside the lemon to stuff it.

Place the wadding

6. Position the second yellow piece

Then cover the wadding with the other piece of yellow leather.

Fold back the charm leather

7. Machine sewing

Then sew all around the lemon with a sewing machine, following the pattern's outlines.

Machine sewing

Gently tap the seams with a mallet to achieve a neater finish and evenly distribute the wadding inside the lemon.

Shape the lemon

Make a few stitches on the top of the lemon to give it a more realistic appearance.

8. Trim excess leather

Using a cutter or scissors, trim the excess leather 3 mm from the machine stitch.

ANOTHER MODEL - LETTER CHARM

FULL VIDEO:

1. Trace the pattern

Download and print the Deco Cuir pattern or draw the shape of your choice.

In the example below: create a letter template directly in Word and print it.

Once printed (actual size) and cut out, trace the outline of the pattern twice on the grain side with a silver pen. Be careful, for the second piece, mirror the shape relative to the first one.

Tracing the pattern

2. Mark the leather

Mark the corners with a round awl to transfer the shape to the flesh side of the leather and make cutting easier later.

Marking suede side Marking with awl

3. Cut out the shape

Roughly cut the outline of the two patterns with scissors. Also cut a tab to attach a carabiner hook later.

5. Stuff with wadding

Cut the wadding into three pieces for the three lines of the A, then shape it by rolling it in the palm of your hand.

Cutting the wadding Wadding ball

Place the wadding on the back of one of the two pieces, taking into account the shape. Then glue the second piece onto the wadding and leather to form the charm. Place the leather tab in the desired location.
