This premium Havana leather is nourished through and through in a tallow bath, a historical expertise of the Radermecker tannery.
It is ideal for making saddlery pieces, large belts, riding accessories, etc.

As this strap is an unstamped, uncorrected full-grain leather, slight signs of the animal's life may be apparent and are not considered defects. They contribute to the authentic appearance of the leather.

The saddleback is a leather made up of the shoulder and the butt, which allows for long strap lengths (see diagram).

Niagara leather is nourished by immersion in a tallow vat (a mixture of paraffin and beef fat), and is called "greased leather". This tallow bath gives the leather better water resistance, nourishes it over a long period, and facilitates cutting and working with the leather. Greased leather is recommended for outdoor use.

Tallow ensures maintenance-free leather as the grease is constantly released onto the surface of the leather, providing the necessary nourishment and an excellent patina. Thanks to this nourishment, Niagara saddle leather has advanced resistance to outdoor use, repelling all external disturbances (water/saline environment). This saddle leather is therefore suitable for intensive wear, such as in the equestrian sector. The aniline finish allows the dyed leather to retain its natural appearance.

Uses of the dyed Niagara saddleback leather strap:
The dyed Niagara saddleback leather strap can be used in leather goods, especially when you need long lengths of leather: belts, bag handles, bracelets, watch straps, dog and cat collars, etc.
It is the most sought-after leather for making belts thanks to its natural finish, its resistance to stretching, and its nourishment allowing it to guarantee a long lifespan.
It can also be used for harness parts: halters, bridles, harnesses, rein straps, headstalls, uprights, browbands, nosebands, lead ropes, throat latches, and girths.
For a perfect finish of the edges of Niagara saddle leather, we recommend applying an edge finish.
Tooling on our Niagara leather is not recommended because, with its nourishment in a grease bath, the leather will return to its natural thickness, and the embossed patterns will fade over time.

Maintenance tips for dyed Niagara saddleback leather straps:
For the maintenance of Niagara saddle leather, thanks to the nourishment in the tallow bath, the grease is impregnated throughout the entire thickness of the Niagara saddle leather, so there is no need for nourishment over time. Nourishment can be applied to the grain to ensure its oily appearance or to accelerate the leather's patina. This care of the grain ensures a longer lifespan. Our Niagara saddle leather will resist humidity. Simply let it dry at room temperature to restore its appearance. Due to its nourishment in a tallow bath (grease), a whitish film of paraffin can form on temperature shocks. Simply rub it to make it disappear.
