PRE-STRETCHED LEATHER FOR STIRRUPS
This chocolate leather is made from pre-stretched BOYOMA butt leather from the Radermecker tannery. Boyoma saddlery leather is a full-grain leather, unpressed, uncorrected, with a smooth grain and double-tanned (vegetable retanned with mineral). This robust leather has high resistance to elongation, making it ideal for stirrups and saddle girth straps. This leather is deeply nourished in a tallow bath, a historical know-how of the Radermecker tannery.

This leather is a "tannery choice," meaning the hides have been carefully selected and therefore have very few defects. As a reminder, defect-free leather does not exist. Vegetable-tanned leather is a quality leather that does not hide the animal's life marks and develops a patina over time. With this type of leather, you must judiciously place the patterns of your creations before cutting.

Characteristics of Boyoma pre-stretched leather:
Boyoma saddlery leather is the leather for stirrups and saddle girth straps. It is a double-tanned leather: vegetable retanned with mineral, which is reprocessed wet and placed on frames (which leaves marks at the end of the leather - see photo).
Under tension, it minimizes its elasticity, elongation, and increases the absorption of direct forces without altering its tensile strength.
This leather benefits from an aniline finish that preserves the natural appearance of the leather. The aniline finish consists of applying a light, thin, transparent layer without altering the leather's texture.
It is deeply nourished in a tallow bath (a mixture of paraffin and beef fat), more commonly called "greased leather." This fat nourishment allows for easy cutting and working, as well as greater water resistance. The tallow allows for maintenance-free leather since the fat is constantly released onto the leather's surface, providing it with the necessary nourishment and an excellent patina.
Thanks to this nourishment, Boyoma saddlery leather has advanced resistance to outdoor use; it will repel any external disturbances (water / saline environment / animal sweat). This saddlery leather is therefore suitable for intensive wear in areas such as the equestrian sector.
Maintenance tips for pre-stretched Boyoma leather:
This leather is suitable for anyone who doesn't take the time to maintain their leather. It can live without maintenance; you can also nourish the leather with a film of dust. Thanks to the tallow bath nourishment, the fat is impregnated throughout the thickness of the stretched Boyoma saddlery leather, so there is no need for nourishment over time. Nourishment can be applied to the grain to ensure its oily appearance or to accelerate the leather's patina. This care of the grain ensures a longer lifespan. Our Boyoma saddlery leather will resist humidity. Simply let it dry at room temperature to restore its appearance. Due to its nourishment in a tallow bath (fats), a whitish film of paraffin can form on the surface due to temperature shocks. Simply rub it to make it disappear.
