Corded thread is a twisted thread that is assembled a second time with several strands and then re-twisted "wet". This humidification ensures that the linen fibers are not altered. Cording increases strength and results in a very round thread, generally used for luxury leather goods.
This linen thread is glazed, meaning it has been passed through a starch bath to which beeswax has been added. It then underwent horsehair brushing and stretching. These operations produce a smooth, strong thread that has rigidity, good glide for easier sewing, and good hold.
