Braided thread is a twisted yarn that is then assembled a second time with several strands and re-twisted "wet". This wetting ensures that the linen fibers are not altered. The braiding increases resistance and produces a very round thread, generally used for luxury leather goods.
This linen thread is glazed, meaning it has been passed through a starch bath to which beeswax has been added. It then underwent horsehair brushing and stretching. These operations result in a smooth and resistant thread that has rigidity, good glide to facilitate sewing, and good hold.
