Various fastening systems for belt buckles
Several techniques can be used to attach a buckle to a belt. Here are the most common:
- buckle with prongs that fold over the end of the leather strap
- buckle attached with a chape and snap fasteners or Chicago screws
- screwed buckle with screws inserted into pre-made holes in the belt
- riveted buckle where the rivets also serve as decorative elements
- buckle attached with stitching and a chape on the leather strap.
Different types of belt buckles
Deco Cuir has a varied stock of belt buckles, allowing you to choose a fastening type suited to the style of your creations.

Pin buckles
The most commonly used model for belts is the pin buckle, a metal buckle consisting of a frame and a pin. Attached to the leather strap, the pin goes through the chosen hole (usually the third) to adjust the belt's length.
Our pin buckles are available with various finishes: gunmetal (dark and matte), antique brass, gold-plated, nickel-plated…
Pin buckles come in several styles:
- double pin buckles: with two pins
- roller buckles: the roller reduces friction and facilitates the passage of the leather strap
- hooks with chape
- double buckles…
Other types of belt buckles
Other systems exist for closing belts, such as:
- hook buckles
- holeless or automatic buckles that secure the belt with a metallic tooth mechanism
- ratchet buckles for precise and reliable adjustment
- buckles with a stud that presses directly into the leather
From classic buckles to original designs
Many styles of belt buckles are available in Deco Cuir's collections. You will find traditional models and buckles that match specific trends such as Western fashion or medieval influences.
Mexican belt buckles
We sell all the necessary elements to create Mexican or Western belts. These are Mexican buckles, with a matching belt loop and tip. Several finishes are offered, such as antique silver, satin antique brass, or nickel-plated. You can choose between buckles with a sleek style or refined decorations.
Western buckles
Also known as American buckles, they come in a wide variety of shapes and styles: rectangular, oval, round… We offer classic models of Western buckles and other original ones in the shape of a triskel, dragon, rose, bird…
Medieval buckles
During historical reenactments, medieval fairs, theater plays, or live-action role-playing games (LARP), accessories must be in the same style as the clothing. Thanks to our range of medieval buckles, you can create bags, satchels, and belts with an authentic look.
Buckles for harnesses, bags, and watches
Deco Cuir's collections also include buckles used in equestrian, leather goods, and watchmaking.
Conway buckles
The Conway buckle is a boat buckle with a central bar. It makes it easy and quick to make adjustments on a strap. For this reason, the Conway buckle is mainly used in leather goods and saddlery. It is particularly used for leather straps on handbags to easily change their length. In equestrian, the Conway buckle is sought after for making Western or hiking harnesses.
Buckles for bags and watches
For easy opening of backpacks, sports bags, or even belts, clip buckles are perfect. These clip fasteners are available in plastic or metal versions. We also offer pin buckles for watch straps.
