Required Materials

To make this keychain tutorial, you will need:

1 piece of semi-soft/semi-firm leather (SATINLYS, SAUVAGE, or SATINATO) measuring 15 x 20 cm - Thickness of 1.2 mm
2 snap buttons Ø 10.5 mm and the setting tool
2 eyelets Ø 4 mm and the setting tool
1 round keychain ring Ø 22 mm
1 round hole punch Ø 4 mm
1 edge burnisher or edge finish

1. Position the pattern

Position the pattern on the grain side of the leather and hold it in place with masking tape.

2. Cut the leather

Then, cut the leather with a cutter by following the outline.

An .svg pattern is available for free download to cut the case with a cutting machine like the Cricut Maker.

3. Punch the holes

Punch the Ø 4 mm holes for the eyelets and the snap buttons.

4. Set the snap buttons

Install the two snap buttons and the two eyelets using the appropriate setting tool.

5. Finish the edges

Sand the edges if necessary, then apply a finish.

6. Attach the keychain ring

Finally, pass the keychain ring through the two eyelets. Make sure the keys are in the center of the case. Be careful not to damage the grain of the leather when inserting the eyelets.
