DIY - Wooden and Leather Advent Calendar

REQUIRED MATERIALS

To make the advent calendar, you will need:

• 6 wooden boards 3 cm wide and a total length of 2.10 meters. Our boards are 1 cm thick. Consider repurposing materials! Length of each board:
  - 66 cm
  - 50 cm
  - 34 cm
  - 25.5 cm
  - 19 cm
  - 12 cm

• 24 screw-in hooks (eyescrews) 3x16 mm (costs about €3.50 - to be purchased at a hardware store).
• 24 leather pouches with a diameter of 14.5 or 20 cm (here we chose pouches with a 20 cm diameter).
• 24 leather STAR cutouts - 4 cm wide.
• 1 spool of 25 meters of round leather cord - 2 mm diameter.
• 2 m of round leather cord - 4 mm diameter.
• 24 T1 double-cap rivets as well as the setting tool kit.
• 1 punch tool, 2 mm diameter.
• 1 silver pencil.
• 1 drill.
• 1 pair of scissors.

Total cost of the tutorial (excluding wood):

• €57.95 with 14.5 cm diameter pouches
• €83.60 with 20 cm diameter pouches

1. PREPARE THE CHRISTMAS TREE SHAPED STRUCTURE

• Using a saw, cut your board into 6 lengths:

66 cm
50 cm
34 cm
25.5 cm
19 cm
12 cm

• Using a drill, drill both ends of each board. 5 mm diameter hole, 2.5 cm from each edge.
• Take the 4 mm diameter round cord and tie a knot at one end. Then pass it through the hole of the first board and tie a knot at 14 cm. Proceed in the same way for the other boards (tie a knot every 14 cm). Leave 30 cm of cord for the "top of the tree".

2. INSTALL THE HOOKS - EYESCREWS

With a drill, lightly drill (be careful not to go all the way through) each wooden board according to the measurements indicated below. Then screw in the 24 hooks.

66 cm board: drill 2 holes at each end 1 cm from the cord, then 7 holes every 7.5 cm.
50 cm board: drill 2 holes at each end 1 cm from the cord, then 3 holes every 11 cm.
34 cm board: drill 2 holes at each end 1 cm from the cord, then 2 holes every 11 cm.
25.5 cm board: drill 2 holes at each end 2.5 cm from the cord, then 1 hole in the center 12.75 cm from the edge.
19 cm board: make 2 holes 6 cm from each edge.
12 cm board: make 1 hole 6 cm from the edge.

3. ASSEMBLE THE 24 LEATHER POUCHES

To assemble 1 pouch, you need 80 cm of round leather cord - 2 mm diameter. This cord will then be cut in half (40 cm).

4. MAKE A HOLE IN THE STAR AND THE POUCH

Using a hole punch or a punch tool: make a 2 mm hole on one of the star's points and on the pouch.

5. WRITE THE DAY'S NUMBER

Using the silver pencil, write the day's number on the stars.

6. RIVET THE STAR ON THE POUCH

Using the appropriate setting tool kit, set the T1 double-cap rivet to attach the star to the pouch.

7. ALL THAT'S LEFT IS TO FILL YOUR POUCHES WITH GIFTS AND CHOCOLATES!
