BARRY KING TOOLS DIAMOND AWLS
Barry King Tools is a high-end manufacturer of leatherworking tools. This manufacturer is THE benchmark for tools in the USA for people doing Sheridan style carving. This wooden awl handle, set with a polished brass ring, has a very nice finish. Part of the handle is flat to ensure a good grip. This will allow you to hold the tool consistently and guarantee a constant angle for your stitching. The thread and the tightening screw are made of stainless steel, which will prevent any corrosion problems and give your tools maximum lifespan.
The awl handle comes with 2 chucks. These metal chucks are reversible and have a specific diameter at each end. Thus, you have 4 different diameters to adapt your awl blade. Most awl blades available on the market are compatible with this handle. Wooden handle (Cocobolo or Bocote depending on arrival)
Sold with a high-quality Barry King Tools diamond-shaped awl blade for saddle stitching. These tools are also called stitching awls or diamond awls.
This blade is already sharpened to a mirror polish quality, it is ready to pierce. Of course, you will need to maintain the sharpening by using a Strop after each use.
Mounting the blade should be done gently. Choose the chuck best suited for your blade. Loosen the screw, insert the blade into the chuck, then tighten it. For a good hold of the blade, we recommend using a 3/8" wrench for perfect tightening.
If you don't have this tool, an adjustable wrench or multi-grip pliers will do the job.
