Alligator leather information: This alligator leather comes from Mississippi farms. The Mississippi alligator is one of four crocodile leathers authorized for commercial sale, along with the Niloticus (Nile) crocodile, the Porosus (saltwater) crocodile, and the caiman. Alligator leather is recognizable by its rounded scales on the flanks, which become more structured toward the center of the back.
Crocodile leather has more square scales, while caiman leather has triangular scales. These farm-raised leathers are of higher quality because they have fewer scars.
