It is ideal for making saddlery pieces, large belts, riding accessories...

As this strap is made of unpressed, uncorrected full-grain leather, slight signs of the animal's life may be apparent and are not considered defects. They contribute to the authentic look of the leather.

A saddle back is leather made from the neck and the rump, which allows for long strap lengths (see diagram).

Niagara leather is nourished by immersion in a vat of tallow (a mixture of paraffin and beef fat), and is called "greased leather." This tallow bath gives the leather better water resistance, nourishes it for a long period, and facilitates cutting and working with the leather. Greased leather is recommended for outdoor use.

The tallow ensures maintenance-free leather as the grease is constantly released onto the leather's surface, providing necessary nourishment and an excellent patina. Thanks to this nourishment, Niagara saddle leather has advanced resistance for outdoor use, repelling any external disturbances (water / saline environment). This saddle leather is therefore suitable for intensive wear, such as in the equestrian sector. The aniline finish allows the dyed leather to retain its natural appearance.

Uses of dyed Niagara saddle back leather strap:
The dyed Niagara saddle back leather strap can be used in leather goods, especially when you need long lengths of leather: belts, bag handles, bracelets, watch straps, dog and cat collars, etc.
It is the most sought-after leather for making belts thanks to its natural finish, its resistance to stretching, and its nourishment which guarantees a long lifespan.
It can also be used for harness parts: halters, bridles, harnesses, reins, headstalls, cheekpieces, browbands, nosebands, lead ropes, throat latches, and girths.
For a perfect finish of the edges of Niagara saddle leather, we recommend applying an edge finish.
Tooling is not recommended on our Niagara leather because, with its grease bath nourishment, the leather will return to its natural thickness and the embossed patterns will fade over time.

Maintenance tips for dyed Niagara saddle back leather straps:
For the maintenance of Niagara saddle leather, thanks to the tallow bath nourishment, the fat is impregnated throughout the entire thickness of the Niagara saddle leather, so no further nourishment is needed over time. Nourishment can be applied to the grain to maintain its oily appearance or accelerate the leather's patina. This care of the grain ensures a longer lifespan. Our Niagara saddle leather will resist humidity. Simply let it dry at room temperature to restore its appearance. Due to its tallow bath nourishment (grease), a whitish film of paraffin can form on the surface during temperature changes. Simply rub it to make it disappear.
