DIY KIT TO LEARN CORNER SEWING
Make a leather choupette© and learn corner sewing with this “do it yourself” DIY kit.
This kit was designed in partnership with leather craftsman Paul Jouan. He explains the technique of corner sewing based on the making of one of his flagship creations: La Choupette©.
The Choupette© is a small, useful pouch for carrying anything and everything (bank card, keys, etc.) .
Prerequisites: to complete this tutorial and learn corner sewing you must have a good command of saddle stitch sewing.
The choice of color corresponds to that of the strap and the thread card.
List of kit elements:
- Vegetable tanned leather pieces ready to be assembled (1 body and 2 sides)
- 1 vegetable tanned leather strap (color of your choice)
- 1 box of 8 m of MeiSi Super Fine waxed linen thread - M40 or M50 (same color as the strap)
- 1 T3 collar button - Aged brass finish
- 2 saddle needles with round tip - Size 004
- 1 block of cork 8x8 cm
Leather of the main part:
- Waterproofed vegetable tanned leather dyed light brown (Aztec).
- Thickness: 1.8 mm
Strap leather:
- Vegetable tanned leather
- Length 30 cm
- Width 13 mm
- Thickness: 1.8 mm

Equipment required (not provided):
- Round cookie cutter to punch 3 mm
- Water-based contact adhesive
- Finishing eraser for leather (ex.Tokonole)
- Abrasive sponge - Grit 400
- Lissette
- Impact claws 3.0 mm center distance
- Saddler pliers, round and diamond awl
- Stitching groover or shaper
