Radermecker Leather Sample
This sample is made from pre-stretched BOYOMA butt leather from the Radermecker tannery. Boyoma saddle leather is a full-grain, unpressed, uncorrected, smooth-grain leather that is double-tanned (vegetable tanned followed by mineral tanning). This robust leather has high resistance to stretching, making it ideal for stirrup leathers and girth straps for horse saddles. This leather is thoroughly treated in a tallow bath, a traditional technique of the Radermecker tannery.

Characteristics of Boyoma pre-stretched leather:
Boyoma saddle leather is the leather used for stirrup leathers and girth straps for horse saddles. It is a double-tanned leather: vegetable-tanned and then mineral-tanned, which is further processed while wet and positioned on frames (which leaves marks at the ends of the leather - see photo).
Under tension, it minimizes its elasticity and elongation and increases the absorption of direct forces without altering its tensile strength.
This leather has an aniline finish that preserves its natural appearance. The aniline finish involves applying a thin, transparent layer without altering the leather's texture.
It is thoroughly nourished in a tallow bath (a mixture of paraffin and beef fat), more commonly known as "tallowed leather." This fat bath treatment makes it easier to cut and work, as well as more water-resistant. The tallow treatment results in a maintenance-free leather, as the fat is constantly released onto the surface, providing the necessary nourishment and developing a beautiful patina.
Thanks to this treatment, Boyoma saddle leather has advanced resistance to outdoor use, repelling all external factors (water, salt environments, animal perspiration). This saddle leather is therefore suitable for intensive wear and tear, such as in the equestrian sector.
Care instructions for Boyoma pre-stretched leather:
This leather is suitable for anyone who doesn't have time to care for their leather. It can last without maintenance, but you can also condition the leather if it has a dust film. Thanks to the tallow bath treatment, the grease is impregnated throughout the entire thickness of the stretched Boyoma saddle leather, so there's no need for further conditioning over time. Conditioning can be applied to the grain side to maintain its oily appearance or accelerate the leather's patina. This grain treatment ensures a longer lifespan. Our Boyoma saddle leather is resistant to humidity. Simply let it dry at room temperature to restore its appearance. Due to the tallow bath treatment (grease), a whitish film of paraffin wax may form during temperature changes. Simply rub it off to remove it.
