This straight buckle is suitable for making many riding or saddlery items: saddle, halter, girth, etc.
The bar under the barb is a useful reinforcement for parts which are subject to heavy stress. It helps solidify the buckle and prevents the barb from moving.
The roller makes it easier to attach the lanyard.
