To open the jump ring without deforming or scratching it, it is advisable to use 2 flat-nosed pliers with smooth jaws to grasp each end and then rotate it sideways (do not pull the ring apart). Insert the elements. Then close the ring by twisting it in the other direction so that the 2 ends are perfectly flush.
