ALÊNE LOSANGE LEATHERGOODS
Craftsman Jérôme David designed the Standard awls, which are simplified versions of the Excellence range awls.
The high-quality blade and the shape of the wooden handle that made these awls famous are identical. Only the titanium parts have been replaced by anodized aluminum parts.
The blade is made of high-performance cobalt steel and comes already perfectly sharpened.
Its width of 2 mm allows for sewing leather goods.
The ferrule is made of anodized aluminum, its tip is fully polished and will not mark the leather, even if the blade is pushed in all the way.
The handle is available in different wood species:
- Birch
- Multicolored birch
- Service tree
- Yew
The wood comes from PEFC certified forests.
Deco Cuir offers two options:
- The awl with clamps alone
- The awl with clamps as a kit with a microsphere blade in stainless steel, a screwdriver to easily change the blade, and a metal storage box to keep everything organized and protected. The rounded tip of the microsphere blade prevents piercing the sewing thread, an essential tool for enlarging a hole or passing the thread of a seam without damaging it. Easily switch from a clamp awl to a round awl by changing the blades with the provided screwdriver.
Dimensions - Leather goods awl:
- Total length: 110 mm
- Blade length: 19 mm
- Blade width: 2 mm
- Blade thickness: 1.1 mm
- Max handle diameter: 31 mm
The handle is ergonomic and will provide excellent comfort of use. It features a flat side that allows you to grip the awl consistently, ensuring a regular cutting angle. You can choose the rotation of the blade relative to the handle to achieve exactly the point you desire using the screw at the end of the handle (TORX screw n°15).
In case of a problem, the diamond-shaped blade can be changed (sold as a spare part) and is removed with a small TORX N°6 screw on the side.
Here's to beautiful stitching!
