26 ARIAL LOWERCASE LETTERS - 6 MM - LEATHER MARKING AND ENGRAVING

Personalize your leather creations with this kit of 26 Arial lowercase letters, designed for hot or cold leather marking. These brass characters are perfect for embossing or engraving initials, a first name, a brand, a message...

These alphabet letters for leather are used in conjunction with a 50 mm character holder (ref. TB334_50) or 80 mm (ref. TB334_80).

The 26 alphabet letters are supplied in a practical metal box, which allows you to store all your brass characters, including those purchased separately individually.

Cold use, on vegetable-tanned leather :
For embossing, only natural vegetable-tanned leather without finish (which absorbs water) can be used.
Insert the letters into a character holder then screw it onto the handle ref. TB335. Dampen the vegetable-tanned leather, then strike the handle with a mallet.

Hot use, on mineral and vegetable tanning :
For engraving, two methods are possible:

1. With an electric creaser :
Insert the letters into the character holder and tighten them with the 2 side screws using an Allen key. Screw the character holder onto the creaser.
Heat the creaser to the desired temperature, wait a few minutes to homogenize the temperature across all the brass characters.
Apply the characters to your leather while maintaining perfect verticality.

2. With the brass handle for character holder ref. TB335 :
Insert the letters into the character holder and tighten them with the 2 side screws using an Allen key. Screw the character holder onto your handle.
Heat the brass characters with a torch, for example. For best results, you can control the temperature of the characters with an infrared thermometer. Use gloves to hold the handle without burning yourself.
Apply the characters to your leather while maintaining perfect verticality, then gently strike the handle with a wooden or nylon mallet.

Depending on the leather, the temperature should be between 120 and 200°C. Thicker leather will require a higher temperature. The pressure exerted, the duration, and the temperature will give different results.

Foil use :
For an even more decorative and shiny effect, you can use foil transfer paper. Cut a small piece and place the shiny side up. Set the temperature between 100 and 120°C.
Apply the characters to your leather while maintaining perfect verticality.
It is strongly recommended to do tests on a scrap of the same leather to perfect the settings.

Placing letters in the character holder :
The dot under the letters indicates the bottom of the letter, it must be positioned on the same side as the dot on the character holder.
The word is written in mirror image. The beginning of the word is located to the right of the character holder. You can check in a mirror if the word is correctly reflected.

Character marking on leather requires experience, which is why we always invite you to do tests on leather scraps. The striking force, the inclination of the character holder, the temperature of the characters (for engraving) or the humidification of the leather (for embossing) are all variables to master to achieve the desired result.

The 6 mm size refers to the reference height of this entire font, whether it be uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. However, the exact dimensions vary slightly from character to character.
