Description

26 LOWERCASE ARIAL LETTERS - 4 MM - MARKING AND ENGRAVING ON LEATHER

Personalize your leather creations with this set of 26 lowercase Arial letters, designed for hot or cold stamping on leather. These brass characters are perfect for embossing or engraving initials, a name, a brand, a message...

These leather alphabet letters are used in conjunction with a 50 mm (ref. TB334_50 ) or 80 mm (ref. TB334_80 ) character holder.

The 26 letters of the alphabet are supplied in a practical metal box, which allows you to store all your brass characters, including those purchased separately individually.

Cold application, on vegetable-tanned leather :
For embossing, only natural vegetable-tanned leather without a finish (which absorbs water) can be used.
Insert the letters into a character holder and then screw it onto the handle ref. TB335 . Moisten the vegetable tanned leather, then strike the handle with a mallet.

Hot application, on mineral and vegetable tanning :
For engraving, two methods are possible:

1. Using an electric threading iron :
Insert the letters into the type holder and tighten them with the 2 side screws using an Allen key. Screw the type holder onto the threading tool.
Heat the iron to the desired temperature, wait a few minutes to obtain a homogenized temperature over all the brass characters.
Apply the characters to your leather, ensuring perfect verticality.

2. With the brass handle for type holder ref. TB335 :
Insert the letters into the character holder and tighten them with the 2 side screws using an Allen key. Screw the character holder onto your sleeve.
Heat the brass characters with a blowtorch, for example. For best results, you can monitor the temperature of the characters with an infrared thermometer. Wear gloves to handle the torch without burning yourself.
Apply the characters to your leather, ensuring perfect verticality, then gently strike the handle with a wooden or nylon mallet.

Depending on the type of leather, the temperature should be between 120 and 200°C. Thicker leather will require a higher temperature. The pressure applied, the duration, and the temperature will all produce different results.

Using the foil :
For an even more decorative and glossy effect, you can use foil transfer paper. Cut a small piece and place the glossy side up. Set the temperature between 100 and 120 °C.
Apply the characters to your leather, ensuring perfect verticality.
It is strongly recommended to conduct tests on a scrap piece of the same leather in order to fine-tune the settings.

Placement of letters in the character holder :
The dot under the letters indicates the bottom of the letter; it must be positioned on the same side as the dot on the type holder.
The word is written in mirror image. The beginning of the word is to the right of the type holder. You can check in a mirror if the word is reflected correctly.

Engraving characters on leather requires experience, which is why we always recommend testing on scrap leather first. The force of the impact, the angle of the type holder, the temperature of the characters (for engraving), and the moisture level of the leather (for embossing) are all variables to master to achieve the desired result.

The 4 mm size refers to the reference height for the entire font, including uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. However, the exact dimensions vary slightly from one character to another.
