THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT
To complete this tutorial, you will need:
- 1 piece of CLASSIC natural vegetable tanned collar leather - Thickness 1.6mm - 15 x 20 cm
- 1 box of 8m of MeiSi super fine waxed linen thread M60 - 0.65 mm
- 1 set of 5 T3 screw collar buttons - Aged brass with 3 x 5 mm screws
- 1 round carabiner - Aged brass - Ø16.5 mm
- 2 saddler needles - Round Tip - John James - Size 1.1mm - 1/0
- 1 jar of gum tragacanth for edge finishing - Leather Deco
And the following material:
- 2 knockout punches - Ø 1.5 and 3 mm
- 1 mallet
- 1 cutter
- 1 beeswax bar
- Olive oil
1. TINTING THE LEATHER WITH OLIVE OIL
Using a wide brush, tint the natural vegetable tanned leather with olive oil. Put at least 2 coats on the grain of the leather, trying to put the same amount of oil everywhere and always going in the same direction.
Let the oil soak into the leather for at least a day and if possible in front of a window.
2. CUT THE LEATHER
Download the pattern and print it in real size.
Cut out the paper pattern, leaving about 1 cm of margin around the pieces. Then tape, using masking tape (to avoid damaging the leather), the pattern on the piece of leather.
Drill the sewing holes indicated on the pattern using a round punch 1.5 mm in diameter.
Drill the holes for the collar button using a 3 mm diameter round punch. Remember to make the 3 mm incision at the level of the head of the collar button.
If you have a cookie cutter of about 10 mm, drill the hole for the charger, otherwise cut a rectangle with a cutter.
Cut out the different pieces with a cutter, following the lines.
3. WORK THE SLICES
Work the slices with gum tragacanth or tokonole. Apply and let the product penetrate the edge, then rub briskly with a cloth or a lisette. The slice will brown and shine.
4. NOURISH THE LEATHER
Apply a thin layer of fat or oil evenly with a cloth (here Fat Panda Blonde by Trimadel).

5. PUT ON THE COLLAR BUTTON
Screw the collar button into the 3mm hole.
6. SEW THE AIRPODS CASE
There are 5 seams: the tongue and the 4 corners. Cut 5 threads, 5 times longer than the sewing length. Then wax the linen threads with beeswax. Thread a needle through each end of the threads.
Glue the two ends of the tongue together then sew part n°2 (the tongue) to part n°1. To start sewing: pass the thread through the 1st hole and even out the threads. Sew passing each needle one by one through each hole. Finish the seam with 3 double stitches (stop stitches) and cut the thread flush.
