WHAT IS A CONCHO?

DEFINITION :

A concho is a decoration that you can add to your leather creations . Conchos are very popular in American culture: a Native American people are said to be at the origin of this accessory (their creation dates back to the 1870s). Etymologically, "concho" comes from the Spanish "concha" which means "shell": one of the first materials used for making the accessory.

There are several types of conchos: lace-on, rivet-on, and screw-on. Conchos are primarily available in an antiqued silver finish (for a more rock-inspired look), but other finishes are increasingly available: antiqued brass, old copper, nickel-plated, etc.

Discover, on our site, a choice of more than 150 conchos to personalize/customize your creations with the style of your choice: western, rock, steampunk, Celtic...

RIVETING CONCHOS

Rivet conchos are attached using a rivet (usually supplied with the concho) that you must place with a striking handle (e.g. Seiwa)

Pay attention to the thickness of the leather, it will depend on the length of the concho rod (indicated on the product sheets).

SCREW-ON CONCHOS

Screw-on conchos are simply attached with a screw, which must be tightened using a flat-head screwdriver.

Add some flair to your snap fasteners by adding a screw-on concho as a cap/head! This requires a screw-on concho snap fastener adapter.

Laurent LILLIU
